Join Saint Joseph Unversity Hawks fight hunger and homelessness. Philadelphia is the # city with people living in deep poverty which means that one person lives on about $6,000 per year and a family of four live on about $12,000 per year. Face to Face relieves the suffering caused by poverty by offering a soup kitchen, health, legal and social services.
My name is Simona Milea and I am Junior at Saint Joseph's University. Earlier this semester in my Introduction to Sociology (SOC 101) class we were introduced to Face to Face, a social service agency located in Germantown, Philadelphia (about a 20 minute drive from SJU). Face to Face offers a dining room, health center, legal center, social services center and partners with Mercy Neighborhood Ministries to offer a early child education, summer camps and after school programs. They also have a Washerteria giving people a place to take a hot shower and receive a new set of clothes. I am raising money to support Face to Face during the pandemic as they are struggling to support their community.
