The dream is taking shape.
Thanks to your generous contributions, construction on the Hawassa Peace dojo has safely continued, even during this year of Covid 19. The ground floor is now finished, furnished and a functioning Aikido dojo! Aikido classes are held regularly in the new dojo, taught by the senior students in the Hawassa Aikido community.
During this time of conflict in Ethiopia, the dojo also takes the principles of Aikido off the mat, functioning as a safe and secure learning space where youth can train in the arts, theater, embodied leadership, women's empowerment, and alternative approaches to conflict.
We are now moving into construction of the upper floors of the dojo. Please help us finish construction so that the dojo can flourish.
Thank you so much for believing in this project.
With a deep bow of gratitude,
Aikido Ethiopia Board of Directors: Tesfaye Tekelu, Richard Strozzi-Heckler, Ruth Levine, Lou Pollack, Katina Bishop, Tseday Alehegn
