At the age of 3, my sister was diagnosed with Marfan Syndrome and the normal life we all had expected, was no longer in sight. Constant fatigue, pain in joints, being stared at for being tall, orthotics and many other obstacles. Now, at age 22, she is the most intelligent, kind-hearted, down to earth person I know. Every obstacle that she has faced, she has had the strength to overcome. Caroline is the strongest person I know, and she will forever by my role model. I will always be supporting my sister and her condition and that is why I chose to run the 2021 NYC Marathon for the Marfan Foundation!
The Marfan Foundation's mission is to save lives and improve the quality of life of individuals with Marfan syndrome, VEDS, Loeys-Dietz, and other genetic aortic conditions. The Foundation works to advance research, serve as a resource for families and healthcare providers, and raise public awareness.
Please support me as I undertake the challenge of running the NYC Marathon to benefit The Marfan Foundation. I am running becuase my sister and many others like her, have a genetic aortic condition which does not allow them to participate in vigorous physical activity.
