The Hastings Youth Council provides support and resources to the youth of our community and their families by maintaining community outreach programs, drug prevention and anti-bullying programs in our schools, counseling for youth and families, volunteer and job opportunities for youth, as well as offering a safe haven for children of all ages. The Youth Council is our local safety net to help children and families in need and to further enrich lives by demonstrating to them our deep commitment and compassion .
The Hastings Youth Council created a youth venture called Hastings KIDS (Kids Involved Doing Service) whose mission is to not only to help others in our community but also to teach our youth important life skills that will aid them in their academic education and in their future careers. Hastings K.I.D.S was initially founded in 2010 to provide access to local service opportunities for Hastings youth became an official school club at Hastings High School. Hastings KIDS has helped initiate this fundraiser, Relay for Life, in order to honor two teachers who passed away from cancer in the hope that this will become an annual community event.
