The Rotary Club of Harlem Foundation is fundraising on behalf of our charity partner; The Salvation Army Harlem Temple Corps, who is actively providing life saving services to Harlem community residents. Harlem, like many other communities around the country, has been economically challenged for many years and has a general population that lives below the poverty line. With the impact of COVID-19 causing job losses and economic uncertainty; The Salvation Army Harlem Temple has stepped up their outreach and are providing meals to hundred of people through their daily soup kitchen, they are driving meals and supplies to seniors who cannot leave their homes, and are meeting the spiritual needs of so many who feel anxiety, fear and frustration during this difficult time.
"Our community needs you like never before. We are in the midst of an ongoing crisis and many of our community residents do not have essential items to survive. We have been feeding hundreds of people every week since this virus began to spread and we have seen the number of people coming to us for food, water, hygiene supplies, and sanitary supplies increase every day. As others will have their resources run out over the coming days we know this will cause even more to seek help here at The Salvation Army. Our doors are always open to those in need, no matter where they come from or what their background. We are here to serve everyone. This call to duty is putting some of our staff at risk and we are in need of more masks, gloves, and protective equipment to ensure the safety of our employees and visitors. You don't have to come and lend a hand, but you can save a life with your generous donation. Never assume that someone else will do it, as they may be assuming the same thing. Please help if you can and I know we will all get through this together"
