With schools closed in Washington state and seniors encouraged to stay home, the demand to get emergency food kits into the community is at an all-time high.
In Western Washington, more than 250,000 students on free and reduced price meals plans and their families are impacted by school closures. Similarly, access to healthy food is already challenging for low-income seniors and is now exacerbated by the need to limit interactions with others due to their increased risk of COVID-19 infection. In times of crisis such as the COVID-19 pandemic, those most in need are disproportionally affected.
