If you’re like me, the COVID-19 crisis has you asking the question: What can I do to help?
My answer is: Give blood and give money!
The American Red Cross has cancelled thousands of blood drives across the U.S. since COVID-19 prevents large gatherings of people.
As a result, nearly 200,000 pints of blood have not been collected in recent weeks. Since each pint can help three people, that’s 600,000 fellow Americans who may be impacted. The need is urgent and you can help.
I’ve been a regular blood donor since high school…and just hit a cool milestone: my 80th pint of blood…10 gallons!
Please check out a story that WJLA-TV did recently on my 80th donation. I enjoy giving blood so much I joined the board of the American Red Cross for the National Capital Region a couple of years ago.
So, here’s the ask:
GIVE BLOOD: Here’s a link to find a blood donation site near you (it’s safe, convenient and the needles are not that big or scary!)
DONATE MONEY: Right here on my fundraising page. See Donate link above.
BONUS--SOMETHING FUN: And, in honor of my 80th pint (10th gallon) and the important blood and financial needs of the Red Cross, I’m doing a Happy Birthday whistle raffle.
Every person who donates will be entered in a raffle for a package of 10 Happy Birthday whistles. I will call 10 of your buds any time/anywhere and deliver a custom serenade on their b-day.
So, whether it’s $10, $100 or $1,000…your donation to the Red Cross will be well spent and much appreciated.
As a Board member of the Red Cross I see the amazing work this organization does: collecting blood, helping people affected by disasters (think fires and hurricanes), and supporting the military, among other critical life-changing and saving programs.
Please donate – the RED stuff and the GREEN stuff – and Give the Gift of Life!
Thanks for your consideration.
