I'm running the Baltimore Ten Miler on behalf of Soccer Without Borders, an incredible organization serving refugee youth in Baltimore-- but we need your help.
Soccer Without Borders helps students from 44 countries adapt to the challenges of resettlement through soccer and the universal love of sports. With soccer coaching and school tutoring, students find the warm welcome they deserve, a sense of belonging, and resources for their own personal success.
Millions of refugees seek safety in the United States-- the great American Melting Pot-- but the challenges don't end for the small percentage of refugees lucky enough to be admitted to the US. On top of the turmoil they've already witnessed back home, refugees must adapt to a completely foreign land in a completely foreign language. Now imagine going through all this at a very young age!
While the worries of most of their American-born peers involve playground games and avoiding their green vegetables, these students have already endured a lifetime worth of challenges. Soccer provides a few hours of an escape and the fun that every child deserves. In a time when the US seems to drift away from our humanitarian role, the responsibility falls on people like you and me to take the initiative and offer our kindness.
I'm running the Baltimore Ten Miler on June 2nd to raise awareness and funding for Soccer Without Borders. I'm amping my efforts with Positive Tracks, an organization that helps young people sweat for good. They're helping me organize and DOUBLING the dollars I raise, up to $1,000! For example, your generous $10 becomes an even more impactful $20, and all of it goes right to helping refugee youth in Baltimore. Please make a donation today. Even a small amount will be deeply appreciated! Thank you so much!
