Haley is just 5-6 years old, but she’s suffering from chronic stomatitis, which is a dreadfully painful condition which, if gone untreated, will end her life. We have treated for and subsequently ruled out Bartonella, and she underwent a dental for scale/polish in February, but her exam in May and the photos taken at that time reveal that more drastic measures are necessary. This means tgat Haley is facing a full mouth extraction, as she is allergic to her own teeth and tooth roots.
Haley was part of a large TNR project in 2016, but she was so immediately sweet-natured that she was spared both the eartip and the return to her colony with the hopes that she would find an adoptive forever home. We didn’t realize at the time how difficult it would be to find her the right home, and then symptoms began to develop. We are being referred to Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists, who extend a discount to non-profit orgs. Our fundraising goal at the moment is based on a ballpark estimate, which will be adjusted once we have the consultation and see hard numbers on paper. We're hopeful that GCVS can see Haley within the next two weeks. The initial consultation will cost $180.
This is the sweetest tabby/tortie we’ve ever met, and we are prepared to do whatever it takes to end her pain and allow her to live her best life in the many years ahead of her. Please help if you can.
