Friends,
Our group of dedicated Volunteer Medical Professionals from Austin, Texas together with the help of InterVol, are very proud to return to Leogane, Haiti, the epicenter of the tragic earthquake in 2010 and provide children and families with the medical care they are still in dire need of.
Our weeklong mission to Haiti from June 2 to June 9, 2018 will provide medical care to isolated villages and treat those with chronic and acute medical conditions that would otherwise go without care. In the past, children and families have walked miles through the mountains to receive treatment from us.
Once triaged, the critically ill are often transferred to the hospital for more advanced treatment. Several years ago our team sent an 18-year-old woman to the hospital on the back of a motorcycle to receive IV fluid and antibiotic therapy for Typhoid, a condition rarely seen in the industrialized world but a serious health threat in the developing world. The cost to transfer and to treat her condition was $15. WE SAVED HER LIFE.
Our work with Hospital St. Croix in Leogane is helping provide Haitians a continuous healthcare network even once we leave. This year Haiti Austin is sending a team of 15 Medical Volunteers that include an Internal Medicine Doctor, a Geriatric Doctor, numerous Advanced Practice Nurses, Registered Nurses, a Pharmacist, and Technical Aides. We will use your donation to bring the much needed medical supplies, to hire local interpreters, to provide medical transfers, and to support Hospital St. Croix in Leogane.
Your donation will not only change lives, it will SAVE LIVES.
Mesi Ampil! (Which means "thank you very much" in Haitian Creole).
