Roger Jenisch, Managing Broker and Owner at EXIT Realty Redefined, heard about the story of a local veteran who reached out to Habitat for Humanity of LaSalle, Bureau & Putnam Counties for assistance with the rehab of his home for his young family. Roger along with members of the Illini Valley Association of Realtors have volunteered with our Habitat build. Together, they understand the mission and, as realtors, they recognize the power of homeownership opportunities.
We want to assist a local veteran with the rehab of his home and we need your help.
Meet our veteran - Jeremy and his family - his wife and children (3 years old and 10 months). Jeremy is a life-long resident to the Ottawa area and is a returning disabled veteran. He has completed two tours of combat duty. The first in the Haditha Triad, the second was with the retaking of Fallujah.
Jeremy was able to purchase a fixer-upper home with a small inheritance check. He and his wife, after careful discussions, applied the funds to purchase this home in need of repairs in order to eventually provide and have a future home for their small family.
The house was in a state of disrepair, but with Jeremy's construction skills and knowledge, the family was hopeful that he could provide their forever home. Jeremy and his family of 4 have currently been living with his parents in a 1,100 sq ft home - which, of course, is not suitable for his parents plus a growing family of four.
Jeremy has been working on the home basically by himself since October. He continues to work at the property in an effort to have it livable in time for his family to be able to move in before the coming school year. While he has been willing to pay the physical cost of doing this alone, he now understands that he desperately needs help. The physical and financial strain has been overwhelming for our returning veteran and he has reached out for assistance for the benefit of his family.
PLEASE DONATE to our Habitat-LBPC VETERANS BUILD PROGRAM - help us as we honor and serve a Veteran who has served our country. Together ... we will provide the funds and volunteers to help this local Veteran and his young family.
Habitat intends to continue with additional future Veteran build projects.
