My 8th grade was given a project that encouraged us to make a difference in the world. I decided to help the organization Habitat for Humanity. A safe, affordable place to live can make a real difference in the life of a family. I have started this go fund me to help support Habitat for Humanity prepare individuals and families experiencing poverty for a better future by providing a stability through home ownership or home repair.
Almost nowhere in the U.S. can a full-time minimum-wage employee afford a one-bedroom apartment. According to the National Low Income Housing Coalition, even two such jobs won’t rent a two-bedroom apartment in 29 states and the District of Columbia. (In California, three won’t. In Hawaii, four.)
The cycle of poverty can be difficult to escape. According to The Joint Center for Housing Studies at Harvard University, more than 40 million American families find themselves in a situation where housing consumes more than 30 percent of their income, forcing them to have to make tough choices between food, transportation and health.
To date, they have helped more than 5 million people through home construction, repair, and new home builds. Habitat for Humanity proves that decent housing can be a path out of poverty for people in need.
Please help me in supporting their efforts. Thank you in advance for any donations.
