Your donation will help the Air Force Association create an AFA Gen Jimmy Doolittle Memorial Fellowship honoring Tom Gwaltney, an honorable man who gave so much to so many service organizations throughout his life. Tom’s work within the AFA included being selected as president of the Montgomery Chapter 102, the Alabama State, and, the South Central Region. He was a National Director; led the team to create the Wounded Airmen program; and worked with the IT team, the finance team, and other teams throughout his lengthy time with the AFA (until his passing March 15, 2020).
As the first president of the AFA in 1947, Gen Doolittle set the bar high for all those who followed him in leadership positions. Tom Gwaltney did the same in the AFA, as well as with his family, his church, his military career, and his community. Tom will forever be remembered as Chief Gwaltney, and his legacy of honor, integrity, and service before self will live on in the organizations where he contributed so much time and talent.
Your contribution will have a real and lasting impact on educators and students nationwide through the AFA’s Aerospace Education programs, and will also be a permanent remembrance of a man who gave so much to ensure others were cared for.
In the words of Gen Doolittle, “There is nothing stronger than the heart of a volunteer.” Tom Gwaltney was the epitome of the word volunteer. Read about his meaningful life in his obituary, found HERE.
Tom’s many friends thank you for your donation in his memory.
