Help us as we assist children with special needs, using the power of the horse! HorsePlay is a registered 501(c)3 charity, which offers hippotherapy sessions. Hippotherapy refers to the manner in which physical, occupational, and speech therapists use the sustained, rhythmic movement of the horse (or pony) to meet functional therapy goals. Therapists can manipulate a horse's movement to address issues like coordination, posture, strength, tone, communication, social interactions, fine motor skills, and sensory processing!
In hippotherapy, it is important to have a wide variety of equines. Smaller horses and ponies can be used for grooming activities (targeting fine motor skills, social interactions, sensory processing, and crossing midline), and offer a shorter, choppier gate (increasing a child's muscle tone and improving core strength). For younger children, it is important to consider their size and build...matching them with a smaller pony that would better match their natural stride!
Your donation will go directly toward our new pony, Snickers! He is an adorable little Welsh cross chocolate palomino pony who absolutely loves kids! Any amount is greatly appreciated and will make a world of difference for our kids!
