Aldo Rodriguez is a native of the Dominican Republic and spent a little over a decade living in North Carolina. He currently lives in West Palm Beach with his fiancée Vanessa Calás. He got involved with the Crossing For A Cure directly this year, after watching Vanessa volunteer the past two years. She introduced him to Ben Mudge, who really inspired Aldo to take part in the Crossing this year. To Aldo, everybody involved in the event is incredible, and there's an incredible energy that is contagious and hard to resist.
"When I hear all of these people paddling for this cause and you have participants with cystic fibrosis, facing their fears down and also making this trek, it's hard for me to stand by on the sidelines."
Aldo has a personal goal as well: to overcome a great fear of his, the ocean. "I mean, what better way to get over that fear than a nice 80-mile paddle from the Bahamas back to Florida? Right?" *nervous laughter*
