It’s a great day for creatives, makers, and artists in Austin, but we need help bringing it to life! We're excited to announce that Asmbly Makerspace and ATX Hackerspace are joining forces to operate as the nonprofit Asmbly. To complete this transaction and make some much needed improvements to the space, we’ll need help raising funds.
ATX Hackerspace was founded in 2010 and is currently Austin’s largest volunteer-run creative space. ATXHS provides access to a wide range of tools including laser cutters, CNC routers, 3D printers, an extensive wood, metal, and machine shop, and much more. Although originally formed as an LLC, ATXHS has always operated in the spirit of a nonprofit using any profits gained to reinvest in the space and equipment offered to members.
Asmbly Makerspace was founded in 2019 by a handful of ATXHS members who wanted to create a nonprofit makerspace. Although they were successful in gaining nonprofit status, a space was never acquired in order to launch and the project went on hiatus.
We’re excited to combine the best of both these organizations to create Austin’s largest NONPROFIT makerspace. Asmbly will be the same member-driven community and continue offering access to the same tools currently available at ATXHS. Asmbly will maintain a knowledge sharing focus in the community and work to further expand class offerings to members as well as anyone in the community interested. Our aim is to enable others to expand their skills and abilities, testing the notions of what can or can't be done.
This complementary pairing has an exciting future ahead with big plans to expand the specialties and tools available to members. Any donation you can offer will help make an impact. Thanks in advance for your contribution!
