I am VERY excited to announce that I will be participating in the 2020 Boston Marathon working with the Gronk Nation Youth Foundation! They do great work across New England and beyond, and they were instrumental in getting the state-of-the-art-weight room at my school (KIPP Academy Lynn Collegiate). I have seen first hand the impact of their work, and am excited to run alongside them in April!
This will be my first marathon, and will help me tick off an item from my "Pre-30" bucket list =). I was a participant in youth sports growing up in Rhode Island, and was a much more avid spectator of my brother and cousins. As an educator, I have seen first hand the impact that sports can have on a student's trajectory and the larger culture of a school.
About the Foundation:
The Gronk Nation Youth Foundation is an organization dedicated to inspiring and supporting our youth to reach their maximum potential by empowering them to be positively involved in sports, community activities, education, and fitness. Our mission is to help our youth stay actively involved in school and sports and provide them with the tools needed to help them follow their dreams and live a happy and more successful life. The purpose of the Foundation is to contribute financial resources to selected nonprofit organizations that effectively serve and benefit children with an emphasis on health, education and fitness.
Over the course of Rob’s football career, Gronk Nation Youth Foundation has helped to support many youth programs through New England and the Buffalo regions including Boston, Somerville, Brockton, Lynn, Maine, and others. He continues to give back through his family foundation. He has also supported Children’s Hospital Boston and other New England nonprofits such as Dreamfar High School Marathon and Cristo Rey School.
