The Crossing For A Cure is a long-distance endurance paddle challenge and international championship that takes paddlers 80 miles across the Gulf Stream from Bimini in the Bahamas back to the Florida mainland in Lake Worth. The event was inspired because of the incredible health benefits of the Ocean for those living with cystic fibrosis. Travis Suit's daughter Piper was diagnosed with CF when she was four years old.
About Cystic Fibrosis
Cystic fibrosis is a progressive, genetic disease that causes persistent lung infections and limits the ability to breathe over time. In people with CF, a defective gene causes a thick, buildup of mucus in the lungs, pancreas and other organs. In the lungs, the mucus clogs the airways and traps bacteria leading to infections, extensive lung damage and eventually, respiratory failure. In the pancreas, the mucus prevents the release of digestive enzymes that allow the body to break down food and absorb vital nutrients.

A lover of life, animals, coffee, and water and land based adventures, this will be Lindsay's first time paddling across the ocean with Piper's Angels. As a dedicated yogi and distance runner, Lindsay loves training on and off the water, just as much as she loves encouraging others to do the same! She believes, "If I have the physical capability to push myself beyond my limits in order to benefit such a great cause and play a role in saving lives and families, how could I not seize such an opportunity? My passion is driven by everyone in the community that continues to alter their lifestyle, whether it's volunteering or donating time/money, in hopes that one day there will be a cure for CF. Now THAT is pure love.
Part time mermaid, bartender, tour guide, captain, and pirate. Enjoying my Own Utopia, as my grandmother would always say. I was born in good ole west palm beach and my father would take my sister and I fishing on the beach before work, all summer long. I return to the ocean for every trial life throws my way, and it never fails, from the smell releasing familiar chemicals in my brain, to the challenge of keeping my body loose among the waves, to the sounds I hear under the water that make me almost forget I need to come back up for air. The ocean is a powerful being, that can heal with the gentlest touch. That touch is healing, whether punching the waves after a bad break up, or floating peacefully in a glass reflection of coral colors. The ocean Heals. I know this. Cf Warriors know this, EVERYONE should know this! So lets let everyone know....
Jennifer is passionate about environmental issues. She hopes to help continue to bring awareness about the need to conserve our waterways for the good of our planet and CF. The salt air can reduce CF symptoms by over 57% in turn, increasing life expectancy. As a crossing crusader, her focus is on the environment and doing what she can to protect it.
For every $10 donated in Jennifer's name, she will spend an hour removing harmful trash from the waterway. Jennifer is up for the challenge of a lifetime.
