Help us support youth career exploration and business education during this time of need.
Can a 12 year old start and manage a successful business? AMIA Works supports the growth and development of children in our community. Every summer, we host and sponsor the Greensboro Children's Business Fair, a pop-up shop event for children, age 6-16. The children set up their own mini-business booths similar to a science fair, but even better because each child is marketing their own wares and services in exchange for real cash that they earned and get to keep. There are no middle men, no fees and the experience is truly priceless! Parents have shared that their children look forward to the fair each year and some of the children begin planning their booths before school lets out. The GCBF features a diverse group of mini-entrepreneurs, including youth who are on the autism spectrum, youth who were victims of bullying and other children struggling to overcome personal issues in their lives. The children learn that business and entrepreneurship is a great way to come together as one, working towards a common goal. The parents are usually filled with pride to see their young ones in action.
Unfortunately due to COVID-19, the 2020 Summer Fair is in jeorpardy.
We would like to initiate a Virtual GCBF Business Summer Camp for our participants and send each child a GCBF Camp Box with materials and resources for the camp. Please help us provide this valuable resource to the GCBF Kids and their families during the coronavirus crisis.
