The GPWBA is excited to support Walk in Their Shoes again this year. Walk in Their Shoes is a fully inclusive family event. People of all genders and ages walk to spread awareness about sexual and gender based violence. Participants may wear or display shoes symbolizing a person they know who was assaulted or the shoes of a group of victims about which you particularly want to raise awareness. This usually means wearing high-heels to honor female victims of violence, but may include shoes to symbolize male or child victims.
The Center for Sexual Assault Survivors is a local 501(c)(3) non-profit organization committed to assisting victims of sexual violence, domestic violence and human trafficking in the Hampton Roads area. We provide free crisis services to anyone who has experienced sexual assault.
The Center plays an active role in the reduction and elimination of sexual violence in our community by providing ongoing community training and awareness events, as well as technical assistance to allied professionals.
As a local non-profit, The Center offers free counseling services to victims of sexual assault (both children and adults), their family members, friends, dating partners and anyone else seeking services related to overcoming sexual violence.
