Space for Giants is an international conservation charity that protects Africa’s elephants from immediate threats like poaching while working to secure their habitats forever in landscapes facing ever-increasing pressures. The Great Elephant Walk will be taking place from the 7-11 December 2018. Setting out along one of Africa’s great elephant migration corridors, in central Kenya, we will trek an average of 10 miles a day, alongside camels carrying all of our gear. We will sleep out under huge African skies, listening to the sounds of the savannah: the eerie call of hyraxes, the panting of leopards and the distant roars of lions or trumpeting of elephants. You will be led by Kenya’s outstanding safari guides who possess a treasure trove of knowledge about the flora and fauna of this great elephant landscape. Along the way we will meet Samburu warriors, leading conservationists, brave wildlife rangers and fascinating wildlife researchers, learning about what it takes to keep our remaining giants protected. This once-in-a-lifetime adventure is a unique opportunity to do something truly ‘out there’ and make a real contribution to ensuring elephants are protected everywhere in Africa that Space for Giants works.
