Buffalo Prenatal Perinatal Network (BPPN) has been in existence for over 30 years caring for the most vulnerable women in Buffalo, New York to ensure they are safe, have access to health care and have a healthy birth. We care for 1,000 families every year and our staff work with high-risk women to ensure better health outcomes. Our program achievements include 96% attendance at prenatal and well baby visits, 77% breastfeeding initiation rate, 97% up to date immunizations for children , 99% children screened for lead and a reduction in low birth weight infants by half. We have recently received news from our major funder that they will be withholding an estimated $400K from the agency. This will be a DEVASTATING impact for our clients due to reduction in service and our employees who are facing layoff.
Below is a quote from one of our program participants to illustrate the importance of BPPN.
"To know we were backed by someone who really cared made that difference I was searching for since I was a kid. They say anywhere is better than nowhere and I thank the Lord I landed here."
