Graham Crisis Center is in the process of raising money to build a new building in the old Graham Steers Bowling Alley. This building will allow the center to help more women needing a place to go and will help broaden the programs offered to the community. I am a board member and I am trying to help the Graham Crisis Center grow and be in the situation to help our community for years to come. The legal name is Civic Health Services dba Graham Crisis Center. Civic Health Serivices also includes the Food Pantry, Counseling Ministry to the community and the Benevolence fund. GRAHAM CRISIS CENTER SERVICES PROVIDED IN 2019 · SHELTER: Priority given to battered women with children, unaccompanied battered women, other women in crisis with children or unaccompanied women. *Women: 97 *Children: 51 *Total nights of lodging: 741 · PROFESSIONAL COUNSELING: Available free of charge to men, women, and families. We also provide support groups as the need arises. Our new facility will include a large meeting room/classroom where we will begin offering a variety of life skills classes open to the entire community. *Total number of counseling hours provided: 1186 · BENEVOLENCE ASSISTANCE: Our first priority is to help individuals and families who are at risk of having utilities turned off because they cannot pay their monthly bill. Gas, electricity and water are the basic utilities we assist with. Most utility bills are larger than we can cover, therefor we network with local churches that provide utility assistance. *Over 100 individuals or families received benevolence assistance. · GRAHAM COMMUNITY FOOD PANTRY: We provide supplemental food assistance to individuals and families who are considered to be at risk because they lack the resources to secure an adequate food supply. Clients are allowed to come to the Pantry once each month. We also have a large amount of clothing available to those in need. The Pantry is staffed by volunteers from local churches. Each month we have 50+ volunteers who serve. We are located at 601 Indiana and are open every Tuesday and Thursday 10:00 AM-12:00 PM and 1:00 PM-3:00 PM. *In 2019 we distributed over 150,000 pounds of food. *Nearly 900 persons receive food and/or clothing each month. *Our service area includes Graham and the immediate surrounding area. *Every dollar donated will purchase 5 pounds of food. *Food sources are: Wichita Falls Area Food Bank Graham Walmart Graham United Local food drives (Boy Scouts, Schools, Churches, Postal Carriers, etc.)
