Remember Niger unifies people and mobilized resources to expand educational resources in Niger. Working with local partners through the Reformed Church in Niger, Remember Niger has empowered Nigeriens to solve Nigerien problems, built and furnished schools, educated teachers, and provided financial opportunities for children to learn. Each year, GPC, along with churches through the country, run and walk to raise money for Remember Niger.
We're raising money for the Hamsa Center which is opening this month, October 2018. The center is located in Tahoua the northwest corner of Niger surrounded by rural farming communities. Girls in this region have little access to middle and high school, and many have been discouraged from school, or have dropped out. This will be an educational complex for girls situated in the heart of Tahoua. Construction of a culturally sensitive, yet progressive educational center for girls will create an educational environment that parents, community leaders and girls can confidently count on for safety and success.
On Saturday, October 20th, there's a 5k that begins at 9 a.m. Both begin at the Key Bridge Boathouse, and follow the C&O Canal Trail. We'll meet before and after at the Washington Canoe Club. We're asking that you contribute a registration fee of $20, but our goal is to raise $5000. As part of your registration, you can donate an additional amount - either a month of school, or a full year. If you'd like to make a donation in any other amount, visit www.rememberniger.org
