Teen Cancer America has been a part of my life since 2014. Our family learned first hand the unique issues facing Adolescent and Young Adult cancer patients being treated at a children's hospital. Between hospital experiences and day-to-day life, Adolescent and Young Adult cancer care has a long way to go until it can compare with the care of other demographics. Young adulthood is a unique period of life, and as such, the needs and wants of a young adult are also very unique. I’ve seen first hand the value of TCA and how much good it does for patients, hospitals, caretakers and families affected by cancer. The Lerner's have teamed up with TCA in order to address these under-recognized concerns and help improve the quality of live for teens battling cancer.
Teen Cancer America partners with hospitals throughout the United States to develop specialized facilities and services for teens and young adults with cancer. They build teen friendly environments, enhancing the hospital experience. TCA develops standards for age-targeted care, improve collaboration between pediatric and adult specialists and enable dedicated research to improve outcomes and survival for our young people.
