Our twin boys were born close to 12 weeks early and were in the NICU at Levine for 90 days. During some of my darkest times there, we were greeted with love and support by a local non-profit, Pierce's Project. Because of their compassion and love during that time, we desire to support those families who are on this same journey that we were two years ago. Pierce's Project hosts an annual fundraiser, Premature Oktoberfest, to raise funds for NICU support programs.
This year we successfully funded over 300 NICU care packages, hosted 24 hospital dinners, and distributed over 300 NICU parking passes. We expanded to include support of parents anticipating a NICU stay by offering our services to area high risk OB units. And we were able to work directly with local hospital physicians to fund a critical, life-saving and time sensitive medical transport for one premature infant that insurance has denied.
In addition to those things, we successfully provided free, professional counseling services to all the NICU families who applied!Funds raised go towards supporting our care packages, special events, parking subsidies for parents with babies in the NICU and our counseling program that helps parents who are struggling with the emotional effects of having a premature baby.
This year our event is October 19th at 8.2.0 Bar/Restaurant located in the NC Music Factory complex. Please join us on October 19th and help support our team by donating to our team!
