To clear the hillside across from the Baltimore Museum of Art, the Friends of Wyman Park Dell (FWPD) will be installing goats (yes, goats!) on the slope this fall! For seven days, goats will graze the "BMA Slope," as part of a long-term plan for managing vegetation.
The goats will be provided and managed by Eco-Goats. Baaa-lieve it or not, goats can provide an ideal alternative to machines and herbicides when it comes to clearing unwanted vegetation, They graze in places that mowers can't reach and humans don't want to go (they love Poison Ivy). A temporary electric fence will be installed to provide a paddock for the goats, with a secondary safety fence on all sides of the paddock to keep the public at a safe distance.
We hope to celebrate the arrival of the goats with some socially-distant promotions and activities.
Please consider making a contribution to help us bring the goats to the Dell. We are grateful for donations of any size.
