The Morgan’s Mile challenge was created in 2015 by a childhood cancer survivor and namesake of The Morgan Center, Morgan Zuch. TMC is the first and still one of the only preschool programs in the U.S. for children battling cancer. Held in September during National Childhood Cancer Awareness month, Morgan ‘challenged’ people to ‘GO the EXTRA MILE for Kids with Cancer’.
The idea was - and still is - to get up and go! Walk with family or friends. Walk with your coworkers. Walk alone. Just walk. And dedicate a mile in honor of children battling cancer!
Participants are encouraged to post a picture or video and tag The Morgan Center and hashtag #MorgansMile on social media to raise awareness for childhood cancer. Participants could walk any day in September to honor National Pediatric Cancer Awareness month and help raise awareness and funds for preschool-aged children battling cancer.
The event was an immediate success, raising over $25,000 from local supporters as well as donors across the country. Each year has seen more participation and greater fundraising success.
For 2020, due in large part to restrictions from COVID-19, The Morgan Center has had to rethink its fundraising efforts for 2020. The Center’s fundraising events and activities have been seriously impacted this year but the need is great. Morgan’s Mile will be our most important event of the year.
We need your support! Walk alone, with your family, or organize a virtual ‘Team’.
Reach out to friends, families, and colleagues for pledges, donations, and sponsorships.
