Students Empowering Students is our mission, and we stand by it. Global Leaders empowers students to become leaders through service locally and abroad. Our high school students serve their community by spending 70+ hours each on local service projects including student initiated food drives, student mentoring programs, and spending quality time at Respite Care, a local center for children with disabilities.
GL students also complete 14 days of international service in Guatemala. During which, students participate in reforestation efforts, clean stove installations, and hospital work.
This year, students will start a new project called "Lights for Education". Lights for Education helps local, at risk students create relationships through mentor programs. In this mentor program, students engage in technology and service while they work together to design and create solar lanterns for their pen-pals in Guatemala and Ghana. Both international communities involved have extremely high percentages of people living below the poverty line. Access to both education and electricity are limited, if not available at all. By writing letters, students across the world build relationships, practice writing, and learn about diverse cultures. The lanterns will help students study in their homes when there normally isn't access to lighting or electricity, creating larger potential to succeed and remain in school longer. Lights for Education will create brighter futures for students locally and abroad.
The funds raised in this challenge will go towards "Lights for Education" project efforts.
Help empower students to take action to help our world thrive!
