Kristin, Carl, Becky and I are excited to be part of the Glen Doherty Memorial Foudation's 2020 Falmouth Road Race team! Glen is a former Navy SEAL who was killed in Benghazi, Lybia in 2012 and a lifelong friend of Phil's.
We are running to raise money to help GDMF provide scholarships for Special Ops sailors/soldiers as they transition from military to civilian life. This transition is incredibly hard for the whole family. After years of discipline, focus, effort and 100% dedication to their teams and missions, the classroom or boardroom can seem like a different world. It takes time, training and patience. It was one of Glen's biggest challenges and kept him in the security contracting world. We need to step up for them and help provide a source of support. Please make a donation (or donate again). Austin people, let us know if you want to run/bike/walk the 7.1 miles with us (date TBD, likely early August). Glen would love nothing more than a bunch of folks getting together for a good workout and fun afterwards.
If you are not familiar with the race, Falmouth RR is a 7.1 mile race along the Cape Cod coast from Woods Hole to Falmouth Heights. Phil's family volunteered at the race for years and he ran it several times back in the day with Glen, Tom Donahue (also a lifelong chilhood friend), his dad and brother, and a lot of other friends. Every year he set a goal to stay with Glen and Tom, never came close. But they always waited at the finish line with big smiles to bring him in, and brag, and then they'd move on to some post-race fun.
To learn amore about GDMF, Glen, or the current scholarship recipients please get in touch with Becky or Phil, or go to http://www.glendohertyfoundation.org. The scholarship recipients are a truly inspring group. We hope you'll support them and GDMF.
Thank you for donating.
