Dear Friends, Family and all kind-hearted donators,
My name is Andrew Brown, originally from Auckland, New Zealand but currently residing in London, UK.
Come April 15th, 2019, I will be busting my gut to complete the Boston Marathon, all in the effort to raise as much money and awareness as possible to support the Glen Doherty Memorial Foundation (GDMF) http://www.glendohertyfoundation.org/.
Glen Doherty was one of the four Americans killed in a terror attack in Benghazi, Libya on September 12, 2012.
The GDMF has been set up to honour Glen’s life and his beliefs with the overriding mission being:
To ease the transition from military life and work to that of a civilian by helping fund educational costs for Special Operation individuals and their children. We do this knowing Glen's spirit will continue to touch us all.
I have had first-hand experience during my International College Program at the Walt Disney Company in Orlando of talking to, befriending and working alongside many military and special ops personnel who were transitioning to civilian life.
By supporting the GDMF, this is just a small way that we can say thank you, give back and support to those military and special ops personnel who through their hard work, dedication and sacrifices allow us, all around the world to live, travel and enjoy the freedom that we do today.
I hope you will help in my efforts to raise well over $10,000. Any and all donations, large or small are highly appreciated by not only myself, but more importantly will allow the GDMF to continue supporting all military and special ops who are transitioning to civilian life. An example of the GDMF has directly helped, please see below.
Feel free to reach out and ask any questions you have.
An insight into how GDMF helps their Scholars like David Nicastro:
"I felt stuck overseas. I was working in a war zone at least six months a year to support my wife and three children. I did this for over ten years. I spent more than half of my kid's lives overseas and it was physically and emotionally taxing in every way. I would not have been able to transition from work overseas to The MA State Police without the help of the Glen Doherty Foundation. With the financial support of the Foundation I was able to come home and complete the MA State Police Academy and I am now serving the State of Massachusetts. My family life is much stronger as I see my wife and kids every day. I never have to miss another birthday or bedtime story or school play or Christmas again. I would not be where I am today without the help of the Glen Doherty Foundation. The Foundation brings Men and Women back home and gives them a chance to follow their dreams." - David Nicastro, 2015 & 2016 GDMF Scholarship Recipient
Thank you for your consideration! Your generosity will go right to work in helping our nation's soldiers transition to new careers and new family life.
