Each summer since 2006, TOLI has lead an intensive 11-day seminar in New York City for 25 teachers from across the US. Our New York Seminar encourages teachers to think creatively and collaboratively about how they teach the Holocaust, genocide, and human rights. In this way, TOLI works to ensure that the Holocaust and other atrocities never happen again. Participants discover how writing, dialogue, and inquiry can help motivate students toward social action, and they develop a Holocaust and social justice curriculum for use in their classrooms back home.
In addition, talented teachers with exceptional leadership skills who complete our New York Seminar receive additional training to become leaders of TOLI Satellite Seminars in their home states. In 2019, 10 seminars based on the TOLI model were held throughout the US. Moreover, TOLI seminars have also expanded to nine countries in Europe – Austria, Bulgaria, Greece, Italy, Lithuania, Poland, Portugal, Romania, and Ukraine.
Please donate to TOLI this Giving Tuesday to provide Holocaust and human rights education to teachers across Massachusetts and increase compassion, self-awareness, and empathy in the next generation.
