Help us support our students and staff during this time of need.
We believe generosity has the power to unite and heal communities in good times and bad. That’s why we’re participating in #GivingTuesdayNow, a new global day of giving and unity that will take place on May 5, 2020 as an emergency response to the unprecedented need caused by COVID-19.
What is has meant for our school is that we are closed for students on campus however the learning continues. Home Learning packets were dispersed to each student to help them complete their final quarter of school and help them minimize education losses while the campus is closed. Teachers have stepped up to learn new technology for virtual classes, meetings, and collaboration. Your gift will help us continue supporting at-home learning for our 364 students and provide resources for our teachers to deliver the best educational opportunity for each student.
Additionally, our foodservice needs your help. Staff was shifted to supplement for the additional program the school has undertaken with serving emergency lunch and breakfast meals to children ages 0-18 in conjunction with the state of Arizona Summer Food Service program. Costs of unexpected salaries to hire additional food service employees, purchase more food and supplies are adding up. The program began serving 120 meals a day back in March and over the last three weeks has grown to 300 meals a day!
As we look forward to Back to School time, we plan to hand each student a technology device of a Chromebook or Laptop to help them transition into the new environment of Home Learning/eLearning. Let's not forget the need for professional development for our teachers too.
Your gifts of support will help us to address these immediate needs of our students, teachers, and food service workers while supporting our effort to plan for the future of education. Thank you for considering giving to St. Michael Indian School.
