NOVA Veterans Association Impact
During this crisis COVID-19 situation pandemic, we are following up with all previously supported veterans due to their uncertain health and potential difficult circumstances. We are utilizing a surge of volunteer support currently available and were able to provide over 226 veterans follow up support equaling 466 hours in support services time, with many veterans receiving additional support. Our time in March was 10 times greater than our January/February monthly averages. To date, January-March 2020 we have supported over 264 veterans totaling 567 support service hours.
Frustration and confusion can overwhelm many veterans, leaving them anxious, sad, suffering and feeling hopeless. We alleviate these stressful conditions by being their bridge to services and resources. Veterans 55 and older have the largest number of suicides, and that number increases with age (VA National Suicide Data Report 2005-2016). NOVA Veterans Association does not let them fall through the cracks and they are not forgotten.
