At Open Doors to Future Possibilities, Inc., not only do we provide low-cost ($10 an hour) counseling services to our more vulnerable community members, we also provide much needed supplies such as food, water, masks, and hand sanitizers to the homeless population. Many of the homeless, specifically the homeless Veterans who have made many sacrifices for our country and our freedom, are in dire need of these resources. With your generous donations, we will be able to supply our homeless community members with the most needed supplies.
Due to the “shelter-in-place” mandate, Open Doors to Future Possibilities, Inc. is facing unprecedented challenges. As most of our clientele felt safer to have phone sessions instead of face-to-face sessions, we have had to, for the most part, temporarily transition to online and phone counseling. We are still here for our community members during these trying times for face-to-face sessions and through open Warmlines Monday - Friday from 10AM - 6PM. On these Warmlines, our dedicated staff provides support and inspiration with the aim to alleviate some anxiety and help our community members.
Our dedicated staff has continued to work hard during these uncertain times without getting paid. No one at our organization has received a paycheck during the last two months. As a nonprofit organization, we rely on donations and these trying times have made it difficult for us to create connections with sponsors, donors, and foundations in order to receive funding, which has led to a devastating impact on our organization’s revenue. Donations will be directed toward food, water, masks, and hand sanitizers for the homeless population, including homeless Veterans, our staff’s paychecks, rent and other expenses. This will make it possible for us to continue providing our clients with affordable counseling and strengthen their hope and resilience to help them handle stress and move forward despite the uncertainties.
