Help us support HART during this time of need.
HART (Home Assistance Referal Team) is an organization that has served the Greater Niagara community and adjacent areas since 1982. Our mission is to enable the elderly and infirm to maintain an independent lifestyle in their own homes by linking them with qualified and affordable assistance.
Services include health and personal care, respite for family caregivers, companionship, skilled nursing care, meal preparation, light housekeeping and yard work and errands.
The uniqueness of HART is that we are a free referral service. Our caregivers are prescreened through background checks, personal interviews, references and training verification. There is no fee to be registered as a caregiver and also no charge to those requesting services.
HART operates with a part-time staff of 4 and last year processed over 550 cases with caregivers filling over 9,500 hours of care in the community. HART utilizes 7 community volunteers to assist with daily tasks which helps us stay within our very small budget.
For nearly 40 years, all operating costs incurred by HART are provided by charitable support from the generosity of individual and business donors, grants and proceeds from community fund raising events. The COVID-19 pandemic has caused HART to postpone one of their most profitable fundraising events, Rockin' with HART, which resulted in lost revenue.
Rising unemployment rates and the need for many businesses to close or reduce operations is resulting in revenue loss, which will surely have an impact on our donations and sponsorship at HART's future events.
HART needs your help to raise money to replace lost revenue due to COVID-19 so we may continue providing care to seniors in our community and provide work to the caregivers who serve them.
