Green Lents is a grassroots-driven environmental nonprofit that engages the greater-Lents area in developing a more livable, thriving place.
During the past 2 months our team of volunteers, community advocates, staff and board evaluated the events and programs planned this spring and summer. We cancelled or postponed all community events, 2 fundraisers and closed our community spaces of the Tool Library and Malden Court Community Orchard to in-person services and public gatherings.
Both, the programs that our communities have established, cultivated and relied on during the past 10 years and our ability to bring in the needed revenue to sustain them have been impaired.
Through the community listening project conducted this April we learned that the COVID-19 situation has impacted our community unevenly. It has also become clear that during challenging times - what becomes most important are the basics: the people close to us, sharing resources, and food.
Green Lents is motivated to continue to help build communities where we can, provide opportunities for growing food, and connect people with the resources they need. As the economy takes its toll on all of us, we anticipate the need for our services to increase and the loss of the significant revenue to inhibit our ability to respond.
This fund has been set up to help Green Lents sustain the organization through this difficult time and support our ability to respond to the needs of our community through short- and long-term resources enhancing Lents resilience to adversities.
Please consider a gift of any amount to help. GoFundMe will generously match up to $1,000 in donations made this GivingTuesday, May 5th, from 10 or more donors on this page.
