Thank you for your support of our Giving Tuesday Now fundraiser! Your gift will provide much needed financial relief for our April and May expenses. Your donations fuel the work we do with girls every day, even while sheltering in place: running online after-school programs for 48 girls, distributing 201 builder kits, and creating 15 video tutorials. Girls Garage is what every girl deserves - an opportunity to thrive in an all-girls space, to be supported by talented female mentors, and confidence to bravely build the world they want to see. ⠀⠀

These are strange and uncertain days. Our doors are temporarily closed, and we miss making sawdust and sparks with girls every day.
GoFundMe will match $1000 from #GivingTuesdayNOW campaigns, and two generous donors, Vita Wells and Veleta Allen, have also agreed to match $1000 each. So your donation goes twice as far!!
Our work continues, and our commitment to fearless builder girls is stronger than ever.
Normally, at Girls Garage, income from paid programming and weekend workshops helps cover operational costs, ensures all programs are free for teen girls, and underwrites scholarships for our classes. At this time, while our physical space is closed, these important revenue streams are gone.
But rather than a reduction in work, service, and mission, we have found new ways to help girls feel a sense of productivity and agency in the world through the act of building.
Girls Garage supports talented female instructors who continue to teach online and a leadership team that keeps our organization running. Our team is busy pivoting to temporary distance learning and digital content, while continuing to serve as mentors for our girls.
Our after-school classes are running in a live, online format. While we know there is no substitute for gathering and building together in the Girls Garage workshop, we know that face-to-face, weekly time together is providing a sense of community and normalcy in a time of isolation and fear.
We’re assembling take-home builder kits for curbside pickup with everything girls need to complete a small building projects! Families can purchase kits in advance and arrive at a scheduled time for contactless pick-up.
We’ve also doubled down on digital content, including our Tool School video series that is a fun, informative, at-home mini-version of a Girls Garage class.
Girls Garage is Making Personal Protective Equipment
Our teen girls are assembling personal protective equipment for medical professionals nationwide in collaboration with People's Protective Equipment, an initiative led by Carl Bass and Chris Taggart. We're thrilled that our team has already fabricated 1000 face shields! We're all in this together! Watch a news segment from KTVU about our face shield assembly efforts here: https://www.ktvu.com/video/676377
We’re doing all we can to stay connected to our fearless builder girls until we can be back in the workshop together. If you are able, we sincerely welcome any amount of support to help us make the required programmatic shifts to distance learning and cover our baseline operational expenses during this time. Thank you for being the heart of our Girls Garage community!
