Helping Haiti through #GivingTuesdayNow
This year, the Be Like Brit Foundation is honoring 10 years of making Brit's last wish come true, and we are so incredibly thankful for the continued love and support from family, friends and strangers.
Now, more than ever, we appreciate your generosity and caring towards our family. Amidst all of the chaos and uncertainty we have all been faced with in this time of COVID-19, your support means the world to us and we are so thankful you are part of the BLB Family.
Thanks to you, we are able to provide a safe and loving home for the children living at Brit’s Home, and are able to provide them with opportunities that may have previously been out of reach. You have helped us to build a home filled with love, laughter, music and happiness. As we like to say, “love lives here.” Love truly does live inside Brit’s Home, and you have helped to make that happen.
For the bottom of our hearts, we thank you for taking the time to learn about and support the mission & vision of the Be Like Brit Foundation, both in memory of Brit, and in honor of our children and staff at Brit's Home in Grand Goâve, Haiti.
About The Be Like Brit Foundation
Britney Gengel - a beautiful, fearless and compassionate young woman - traveled to the country of Haiti on a college service trip in January 2010. Tragically, a catastrophic earthquake hit on her second day in Haiti, destroying her hotel. After 33 days, her body was recovered from the rubble. Before her death, Britney had sent the following text to her mom:
"They love us so much and everyone is so happy. They love what they have and they work so hard to get nowhere, yet they are all so appreciative. I want to move here and start an orphanage myself."
Brit's family fulfilled her last wish and began the Be Like Brit Foundation. Today, Brit's Home is a 19,000 square foot earthquake-proof home for 33 girls and 33 boys shaped in the letter 'B' for Brit. It stands strong and bold as a beacon of hope for the people of Haiti and the children that Brit loved. By cultivating social responsibility, community involvement and unconditional love, we are ensuring that Brit's legacy will endure for generations to come.
Our Mission: Our commitment is to continue the compassion of Britney Gengel by serving the children of Haiti through sustaining a safe, nurturing home rooted in the virtues of Faith, Hope and Love while developing a sense of social responsibility, community involvement and unconditional love.
Our Vision: To raise the next generation of leaders in Haiti.
