Indy Neighborhood Cats Impact
This year has gone by so fast. We launched INC at the end of August and here we are at the end of 2019. We are honored by the amount of support that has come our way. We thank each and every one of you for confirming the need that existed in our commmunity.
We helped over 100 cats get fixed since September. Either with direct TNR activity or financial assistance.
We have delivered over 1600 lbs of food through our pantry program . We are now at over 700 lbs of food a month. We do our best to get very good deals and take advantage of programs for non-profits. We also require anyone that we assist to go to other food pantries as needed. Feeding colony cats can be expensive. Caretakers are volunteers who do what they can to care for cats born outside. They do not create this problem. Realize these cats have no owners. Our mission is to provide that care to them for their entire lives. We thank you for helping feed the community cats in our city.
When INC received a haul of cat food that had to be mixed and used in a timely manner, we knew our friends at FIDO (Friends of Indianapolis Dogs Outside) could mix and get that food utilized before our small team could. 1200 lbs of food should never go to waste.
We have organized and built 1300 winter shelters this fall. These shelters are distributed and picked up by organizations all over Central Indiana. These shelters provide lifesaving warmth and protection from the harsh winter conditions. We expect to have another build in January of 2020 to make sure cats are not left in the cold.
We have spent over $3500 on medical care. Whether it is just a simple respiratory infection or something as complicated as a bowel obstruction or amputation, INC has provided care to cats in Indianapolis. We take advantage of programs at clinics and other organizations to make sure dollars are stretched and spent in the most cost effective way we can.
We connect people to resources and education. Indy Neighborhood Cats continues our mission by facilitating a group that provides guidance to caretakers and the public about community cats.
