This #GivingTuesday, New Voices for Reproductive Justice is asking you to help us make direct grants and deliver services to the community members - to Black women, femmes, girls and folx - who need us most.
As soon as the pandemic hit, we saw a need for basic supplies among our community members. Many had lost income, support systems and even access to health care. New Voices immediately sprang into action back in April 2020 - we began to distribute desperately needed items like diapers and menstrual products to Black women across Pennsylvania and Ohio through our COVID-19 Community Relief Initiative.
Thanks to our donors, we were able to help - a little. But when we asked the community members we supported what else they needed, the answers were heartbreaking. Their needs included things like infant formula, gas money, help paying rent, and other basic necessities. New Voices does not want to let the Black women, femmes, girls and folx we serve down, so this year, we are giving away the funds we raise on #GivingTuesday.
We have a generous supporter who will match all donations up to $30,000 and we are crowdraising another $15,000 for our Toy Drive for a total goal of $45,000. With your support, we will be able to grant at least 120 cash grants of $250 each, serve 30 families - 10 families in Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and Cleveland - with our Toy Drive, provide more diapers & menstrual products, sustain our emergency contraception supply and making laundromat services available for free.
Your donation has double the impact when matched!
- $25 covers the cost of a laundromat card
- $50 covers the cost of one pack of emergency contraception
- $135 covers the cost of diapers & menstrual for one family
- $250 covers a cash grant
- $500 sponsors a family for Christmas
Please give as generously as you can on #GivingTuesday on December 1 so your gift will be matched. More importantly, one more person won't have to worry about paying for rent this month or if they can buy baby food tomorrow.
