We hope you and your loved ones are safe and healthy. As we know, the world had become a different place for many of us now..As many of you know we support and work closely with a shelter in Volgograd, Russia. The shelter is now full - more than 650 cats and dogs live there at the moment, many sick, old, disabled. We are worried about the dogs who are still on the streets.
VIDEO of the Shelter (Many our pups are from here):
It is really hard for us to imagine a big city where stray dogs are everywhere. Spay and neuter program is non existent, there are no shelters except for a couple ones with very limited capacity, and the level of general public indifference is immeasurable.Mama dogs give birth on the streets and in the abandoned basements, puppies get sick from cold, malnutrition, viruses and infections. There are so many dangers - dogs being hit by cars, suffer from human cruelty, die from hunger and diseases, and as the winter months roll in, freeze to death. Many people would just pass by an injured, or suffering dog, this is just a reality that people got used to, and stopped caring. Natasha and Yana started with just a few dogs they took under their care, but then...how can you turn a blind eye to all the sufferings around? There is an old blind dog abandoned by his owner; a puppy hit by a car, and she cannot walk anymore; puppies thrown away like garbage in the trash; dogs that were used as a shooting target, dogs that suffered by the hand of humans. These animals that are alive today because Natasha and Yana rescued them, treated them, and now they have roof under their heads and food, and water.Their shelter has no help other than donations made by caring people. They won't be able to survive without our help - even if they stop taking more animals in, the ones they have need to eat, and need medical attention. There are a lot of old and handicapped dogs that need meds, there are a lot of sick puppies that need IVs. These animals rely on Natasha, and Natasha relies on us. If you can give anything at all to support this heroic effort by two extraordinary ladies, and help their shelter survive, we all (and the animals, of course) will be so grateful!
We kindly ask you to help us give to the ones that need our help the most.Thank you for your kindness!
