Dear friends,
As most of you know, our son David attended the Frankie Lemmon School (FLS) from when he was 3 years old until June 2016 when he graduated at age 6. The Frankie Lemmon School is a full day pre-school inclusion program for typically developing children and kids with special needs.
FLS helped David make tremendous progress developmentally and socially. The school provides physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy, which have all contributed immensely to the progress he has made. He went from being pulled around school in a wagon to walking with the support of a walker and even taking steps on his own. When he first arrived at FLS, sensory activities such as jumping on a trampoline, waving a parachute in the air, singing songs in a group or attending large gatherings made him fearful or anxious. By the time he left, he loved all of those things.
Communication has always been one of David's biggest challenges but while at FLS he learned sign language skills and how to use a personal voice output device called a Dynavox. A Dynavox is similar to an iPad. It has given David the ability to communicate with us, his peers and his teachers by being able to select a button and having the device speak for him. It gives him autonomy and the ability to feel included in discussions.
FLS not only changed David's life but ours as well. We feel a strong calling to ensure other children and families who follow us on a similar journey have the same opportunities we did.
To that end, we humbly ask you to consider supporting what we believe is a very worthy cause.
With your help, your generous donation will assist in providing for immediate and critical needs associated with each student and the actual facility. This includes outfitting the classrooms and therapy rooms as well as buying a school bus among many other things.
Support will not only enable the school to continue growing and providing a vital resource to the community, but it will also allow FLS to have the resources the children need to reach their full potential, whatever that might be!
With that, we once again humbly ask you to consider supporting the Frankie Lemmon School. Thank you so much for your support!
