Haiti Plunge Inc is halfway toward its goal of raising $10,305 for its Giving the Gift of Water Campaign which kicked off on Giving Tuesday. The $5,622 raised thus far will cover building five Rain Gutter Collection Units (RWCU) in the rural mountain village of Brely where HPI has its base of operations. The units will be placed on the buildings that have tin roofs. The rural villages in Haiti have little access to water. People have to walk 2-3 miles to mountain springs to fetch water and carry it back the same distance with 50 lb bucket, on very challenging mountain terrain. HPI serves a population of 38,000 in nine remote Haitian villages that all need access to water. The village of Brely will be the first to have water. Each unit will also include a bio-sand filter that will purify the water for drinking. HPI hopes to raise the balance of $4,683 by the time the next team departs for Haiti on Dec 28th. Anyone interested in making a donation to the RWCU can go to the website www.thehaitiplunge.org , use this Go Fund Me page or mail a check to Haiti Plunge Inc, P O Box 376, Adams, MA 01220 notating the donation is for RWCU.
