Have you ever swam in a lake? Walked through the woods? Played in the sand? Caught a fish? Played in a treehouse? When you close your eyes do you have a positive outdoor memory from when you were a kid? Chances are you have one.
The kids we help will not have these outdoor experiences without Footpath. Why are outdoor experiences important? Because they shape children's development and worldview. The kids tell us being outside makes them feel free, happy and calm. We give them tools they need (like patience, mindfulness, empathy and problem solving) to overcome their daily toxic stress.
We are growing quickly and trying to reach more kids wanting to be part of Footpath. It's an exciting time! Join the movement. Giving Rocks! It feels good to give knowing you will directly help a child who really needs you.
Help kids get outside. Help kids find direction.
This year, we launched our after-school program, Footpath Nature Club. Kids sign up for our club and meet weekly to explore nature and learn about themselves. Through our unique curriculum we use outdoor experiences to help them learn and practice: mindfulness, patience, integrity and problem solving. They're having so much fun trying new things in nature while also finding their own positive footpath. We had four locations this Fall and with this campaign we plan to open six new locations Spring 2019! It costs $3,000 for an eight week session helping 15 kids.
Of course, we also plan on bringing more kids to overnight camp! It costs $250 to send one kid to camp. We sent 42 the first year, 58 the next year and last summer we sent 140! We hope to send 170 kids summer 2019!
Be part of reaching more kids!
