Historically, Jewish wedding festivities were open to all. Strangers and the poor were welcomed alongside invited guests. In deference to this tradition, we urge you to consider making a special donation in honor of our wedding to the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago. All money raised will be earmarked for a program called the "Uptown Cafe," America's first kosher anti-hunger program. The Uptown Cafe provides hot meals in a restaurant-style setting with the aim of giving dignity and hope to people in need. It feeds Jews and non-Jews alike.
