This GIVING TUESDAY, we're launching the Match the Gift campaign.
Recently, a gift of $20,000, in honor of Andy Starkie, a founder of Friends of Camp Natoma, and a lifetime volunteer, was received.
The gift came with a challenge:
Can fellow Camp Natoma supporters collectively match the donation before the end of year?
Andy gave thousands of hours to maintain the camp facility. He worked like the energizer bunny behind the scenes and always said "it's for the kids!"
It really is ALL FOR THE KIDS!
Your donation supports local youth.
Camp Natoma youth participants gain:
-New communication skills
-Strategies for cooperation & teamwork
-Enhanced leadership traits
-Understanding of and connection to the natural world
-Critical thinking & problem solving abilities
A week of sleeping under the stars, connecting with nature, being creative, and making new friends can be a life-changing experience. Andy believed in the value of camp and dedicated his time to keeping the 360 acre oak woodland campsite operational and ready to welcome kids each summer.
Friends of Camp Natoma, Inc. was established in 2012 as a volunteer support organization for Camp Natoma. In May of 2019, Friends of Camp Natoma, Inc. became the camp operator and facilities caretaker. In only 7 months, numerous site improvement projects were completed and Summer 2019 programs had record enrollment. Just prior to this exciting year of transitions for Camp Natoma, one of the organization founders and a lead maintenance volunteer, Andy Starkie, passed away unexpectedly. Staff, volunteers, and camp alumni want to keep his passion for camp service alive. This Match the Gift campaign will provide funding to facility repairs and upgrades in 2020.
We encourage you to write about the benefits of your Camp Natoma experience in the donation comment box.
Thank you for supporting Camp Natoma!
