It's simple really...
What if everyone who saw that we had a need gave a few dollars to remedy the problem?
What if everyone chose to donate and help instead of just spreading negativity on social media?
What if those who want something done actively become a part of the solution?
What if you skipped the drive thru just once and chose to give $5 to save a life instead?
If each one of our Facebook followers donated just $5, the price of a cup of coffee, we would have over $80,0000 to go toward our new building.
Every Friday from this week forward will be "Give Five Friday," where were asking our community to skip a coffee run, to make dinner at home, to redirect their spending for just one day to join us on our mission.
In the past year and a half the Humane Society of Wicomico County has taken a different direction. Many may not understand what it means to be and open intake shelter. We don't have the luxury of turning animals away.
We take in the ones that misbehave, the ones that have never experienced love or have been abused, and the medically in need. It is our responsibility to save them and we go through great lengths to do so. We have an in-house vet that provides the best care and use outside vets for those cases that are beyond in-house ability.
We work with multiple trainers that help to give our dogs manners and we put our animals in foster homes where we can minimize the stresses of long-term kenneling. We network with other shelters and rescues to give our animals the best options. All of this costs money, time, and space. We do not euthanize for space and we rarely give up. We promise we're fighting every day to do right by our animals, find them the right homes, and be an organization our community can be proud of.
We have not only outgrown our shelter, we want more for our shelter. Our animals and community are our top priority. We already have strong community support, but we need more help.
