When I graduated from Grady High School, I never thought a job in non-profit job would be in my future. But here I sit today, rapidly approaching my 6th anniversary as a full-time employee of Giving Kitchen. My role as Director of Development + Partnerships has opened the door to many new opprotunities to learn and grow both personally and professionally, and is something I am beyond proud to share today.
Because of you, in the past year, Giving Kitchen expanded our umbrella of services to the catering, concessions and food truck communities. Because of you, we funded rent or mortgage plus household unitlity expenses for more than 700 individuals in 2019 alone. And when we add impact to household dependents, that number quickly grows to 1700. Because of you, our vision of becoming a statewide agency will become our reality in 2020. And because of you, our dreams of being a regional and national organzation, supporting food service workers in crisis across the country, are an active part of our 2021-2026 stragetic planning.
Thank you for picking up a shift, having the back, and opening your hearts to help provide essential funds supporting our crisis grant account.
As a reminder:
Giving Kitchen (GK) provides emergency assistance to food service workers in crisis through financial support and a network of community resources.
Since Inception, GK has helped over 3,000 food service workers throughout Georgia. The James Beard Foundation recognized our work this year by honoring our organization with the 2019 Humanitarian of the Year award. Furthermore, the City of Atlanta proclaimed June 3rd as Giving Kitchen day honoring our work here in the Atlanta community. We share these awards and honorable recognitons with you, and everyone who's paths we've crossed along our journey.
