One of the biggest roadblocks to cancer treatment can be the lack of transportation. An estimated 3.6 million Americans delay or have difficulty getting needed medical care each year due to the lack of available and affordable transportation to treatment.
Family and friends may help, but over the course of several months, they may not always have the time or resources to provide every ride. That's why a successful transportation assistance program can be a tremendous asset, and that's why your donation will play a critical role in helping to save lives.
The Road to Recovery program is at the very heart of the American Cancer Society's work of removing barriers to quality health care by providing patients transportation to treatment and other cancer-related appointments.
When a Road to Recovery driver isn't available, the American Cancer Society will pay for a cancer patient to use a ride share service, such as a taxi, Uber, or Lyft.
Give the gift of a ride today!
The cost of a one-way ride is $18, and a roundtrip ride is $36. Giving the gift of a one-way or roundtrip ride (or more) will help a local* cancer patient get to and from their lifesaving treatment today!
Raising $7,500 will help us provide more than 200 cancer patients with free rides to lifesaving treatment.
*All the funds raised will be used to provide rides to cancer patients in targeted counties in Maryland and Northern Virginia, and throughout DC.
